A brand new trailer for the TV adaptation of Conversations With Friends has officially dropped so no one talk to us for the rest of the day.
WATCH: Conversations With Friends | Official Trailer
After watching the sneak peek approximately 67 times, our excitement has yet to wane for the upcoming Amazon Prime series.
Based on the best-selling Sally Rooney novel, Conversations With Friends, the on-screen adaptation, starring Taylor Swift’s partner Joe Alwyn, Alison Oliver, Sasha Lane, and Sex Education’s Jemima Kirke, is finally done and dusted and we are so ready.
Though, if the trailer is anything to go by, we are absolutely not ready.
Opening with Nick (Joe Alwyn) telling Frances (Alison Oliver) that what they’re doing (AKA: sneaking around behind Nick’s wife’s back) is “insanely risky”, the trailer is off to a scandalising start.
“Would it depress you to sleep with someone who loved someone else,” Frances then asks her best-friend and ex-girlfriend Bobbi (Sasha Lane).
“Not if they loved me too,” Bobbi answers.
Queue Frances’ “I’m incapable of love” monologue which is quickly contradicted by scenes of her and Nick partaking in a steamy and sensual romance, while Bobbi and Nick’s wife Melissa (Jemima Kirke) grow closer as well.
Set in Dublin (with the dreamy accents to match), the series is directed by Lenny Abrahamson.
If you want to know more about the plot… here it is…
Conversations with Friends follows 21-year-old college student, Frances, as she navigates a series of relationships that force her to confront her own vulnerabilities for the first time.
While Frances and her ex-girlfriend, Bobbi, broke up three years ago, they are virtually inseparable and perform spoken word poetry together.
At one of their shows, they meet writer Melissa and start to spend time with her and her husband, an actor named Nick.
While Melissa and Bobbi flirt with each other openly, Nick and Frances embark on an intense and secret affair which soon tests the bond between Frances and Bobbi.
Conversations with Friends will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on 16 May in Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
