Mishel Karen has now joined a long list of Married At First Sight stars who have opened up about gaining weight while filming the dating experiment.

Taking to Instagram last night to share two comparison photos six months apart, the police worker revealed she packed on 13 kilograms while being married to her ex-husband Steve Burley and is now on a mission to transform her figure before turning 50!
“Today, I started my journey, ‘unveil 50’ #unveil50 one of my first and biggest projects is the ‘Losing the extra MESH I gained in 2019’. It is quite obvious that during filming MAFS I gained a bit of extra ‘Mishel’ to love. An extra 13kgs of MESH,” she captioned the post.
“I have been a curvy woman, ever since I started trying to have my babies. It was during that time my body started to change, change to a more voluptuous figure. It took me some time to get used to my new shape and start to embrace my curves; but I did it with age, confidence and positive affirmations. I am now back to my pregnancy weight just before I gave birth to my beautiful daughter Eva. Not a weight I expected to be after ‘getting married’ on MAFS or turning 50!”
Despite admitting she still feels sexy and confident at her current weight, Mishel said she plans to document her journey in an attempt to inspire others to get back into shape.
“Even though I believe Curves are Cool! I just don’t feel as healthy and fit as I did before I entered the experiment, so… It is my challenge to fit back into my ‘Hen’s Night’ little black Bec and Bridge dress. I hope that you share my journey with me,” she concluded.
Expectedly, hundreds of positive comments quickly flooded in, with co-star Hayley Vernon confirming her figure also changed throughout the course of filming.
“I gained 7kgs! Ughhh that show. I have no doubt that you will win your butt back into line. However your a milf no matter what size,” she commented, adding a love heart emoji.
It’s no secret Mishel— who once said, “They have more human rights in prison than we did on MAFS“— has been working on her post-show makeover, recently confirming she decided to try a fe anti-wrinkle treatments after spending time around her younger MAFS co-stars.
“Yes, I did have botox as soon as I left filming for MAFS,” she revealed on Instagram. “Being surrounded by so many naturally attractive women that are younger and had botox and fillers… I did get some and I think I will get a bit more. I really like how it opened my eyes and I look fresher. It was a very personal decision, but I give it a huge tick.”
The mother of two also admitted to having her eyebrows, eyeliner and lip colour tattooed on.
“This is my brief overview with a picture of me with no filter, no makeup. Of course, I have my insecurities about how I look without makeup! I see my pigmentations on my cheeks, dark circles under my eyes. I think it is important to show you that we don’t just wake up perfect and we all have insecurities about how we look,” she concluded.
