Speaking with Variety as part of heir Actors on Actors series, the 33-year-old sat opposite ageless goddess Jennifer Lopez to discuss their respective careers.
During the convo, Robert – who played vampire Edward Cullen in the cult movie series – admitted that he found the story “weird”.
How. Dare. He.
“It’s a weird story, Twilight,” Pattinson says of the movie, in which he starred alongside ex-girlfriend Kristen Stewart. “It’s strange how people responded. I guess the books, they are very romantic, but at the same time, it’s not like The Notebook romantic.”
“Twilight is about this guy who finds the one girl he wants to be with, and also wants to eat her. Well, not eat — drink her blood or whatever,” he continues.
“I thought it was a strange story. Even the way I promoted it, I was very open about how strange I thought it was when I was doing it.”
Look, when you put it like that Rob, we kinda get where you’re coming from.
But still, Twilight is a treasure and we don’t want to hear anything else about it.
In his Q&A session with J-Lo, Robert also opened up about his upcoming role as DC Comic’s anti-hero Batman, revealing it was the first blockbuster movie he’s been attracted to since the Twilight saga wrapped in 2012.
“I was very focused on it. It kept coming back into my head,” Pattinson says.
“I was interested in it. I don’t know what it is, which happened inside of me, but I was like, ‘I kind of want to do it.’ I like doing something which an audience doesn’t know that it wants, and try to get it out of them: ‘Oh, yeah, you want to play Batman.'”
Robert says he still can’t believe he is getting the opportunity to play Batman, but honestly we can!
“Let me tell you something: Whenever I see that little action figure, I still haven’t really got my head around it yet.”
