Let’s face it – Guardian Angel Tony Padilla (Christian Navarro) is in for some sh*t come season 4 of 13 Reasons Why.
While Tony has always been the backbone of the show, helping out his friends in every which way he can, season three saw the fall of his family, as Bryce Walker’s father dobbed them into immigration, getting them deported.
Tony faces the struggles of losing his family, running their business and keeping everything together for the people around him, all while having the fear of getting rid of Tyler Down’s guns from season two.
If you recall from the finale in season three SPOILERS AHEAD, the guns that Tony ditched in the lake are found by a local fisherman.
But that isn’t all that Tony is facing come season four…

It seemed like from the get-go Tony was definitely a major suspect in Bryce’s death, but it became evident throughout the season that Tony has been laundering money with the Mexican cartel to send to his family in Mexico.
If Tony is caught laundering money, he’s in for it. But if Tony’s fingerprints are found on the guns that the fisherman has found, it will be even worse for him.
As the show usually goes, the tight-knit group of friends will always find a way to protect each other. We mean, they basically SPOILER ALERT f*cked with the law in season three to put a kind of innocent man in jail (Monty) to protect Bryce Walker’s actual killer.
So, fingers crossed for Tony.
Speaking of Monty, there is a new fan theory suggesting that he may not be SPOILER ALERT dead after all.
To start off with we never actually saw Monty die, we merely heard it from shady character Ani which means the death of a major character was essentially learned through Chinese whispers.
That ain’t right y’all.
Point number two: The show never gave us any details of Monty’s death. Monty dying seemed like a highly convenient plot point as he was eventually blamed for the murder of Bryce Walker, but when you think about, it seems almost right that the writers were just setting up Monty’s storyline for season four.
If you needed any further convincing, one genius Reddit user laid out the theory in full.
Timothy Granaderos – the actor who plays Monty – told Entertainment Weekly he’s hoping his character returns next season:
“I’d hope to get to unpack more of his story.
“It was a tragic ending to a tragic story that I feel like there is so much more to explore with what he was going through and how he was processing things,” Timothy said. “It was rejuvenating to be able to talk from Montgomery’s heart and not put up this wall of defense and aggression. It’s a sad story that I’d love to see more of if Monty does get to come back in some way.”
