When Jacob Elordi revealed last week that he hadn’t watched his own wildly successful Netflix movie, The Kissing Booth 2, we can’t say we were *too* surprised.
The Aussie actor hasn’t made much of a secret that he considers his Kissing Booth character Noah Flynn ‘awful’—largely because of how poorly he treats Elle with very little explanation as to why. Well, apparently his ex-girlfriend Joey King was pressed enough that she took some time out of her (totally not-romantic) holiday with new co-star Taylor Zakhar Perez to tweet about it.
In case you missed it, Elordi was doing an interview when he went off-book and revealed that he hadn’t watched The Kissing Booth 2. “I haven’t seen it. You’ve seen more than I have. I don’t know if I’m allowed to say that, but I haven’t. Do you like it?” Elordi asked. As if that wasn’t enough, he also implied that he may not have bought the reporter’s assessment of it as “cute,” telling them to “be honest.”
Well, apparently King took to Twitter to shut down the story as Elordi taking the piss. In a tweet that’s since been deleted, King wrote, “Jacob watched it. He’s capping.” (ICYMI, ‘capping’ = lying.)
After breaking up after about a year of dating, King and Elordi had to reunite to play a couple on The Kissing Booth 2. Probably a slightly more awkward time than their first time filming where they, you know, became lovers.
King has spoken in the past about the early days of their relationship, though she’s pretty private about it now. “Was it love at first sight? Well, I thought he was very cute when we first met, but it started as a friendship,” she admitted. “Right away we were talking about gross things with each other. But before long I started to realize, ‘Hey, I think I kind of like this person!'”
“It was such an interesting experience meeting your boyfriend on set because you spend so much time together and become so close so fast,” King shared. “We were spending 17 hours a day together, and all of us would hang out after work and watch movies together and stuff. It was great.”
Look, based on the fact King can tell when Elordi is lying in interviews we hope that means they’re at least friendly? 😅
