Oh Lorde, you sure know how to turn the angst of growing up and navigating heartbreak into an incredible discography.
First there was Pure Heroine, then Melodrama, now, with her third album Solar Power due to be released on August 20, can we expect another ode for all the sad girls, guys and non-binary pals?
The angst-ier counterpart to Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour perhaps? Hmm… potentially.
While the musician, whose real name is Ella Yelich-O’Connor, revealed in her newsletter that Solar Power explores the great outdoors, she did allude to the natural world being an anchor for her during times of “heartache” and “deep love”.
“In times of heartache, grief, deep love, or confusion, I look to the natural world for answers.”
So who is a potential contributor to these “transcendent feelings” as Lorde calls them? Well, the 24-year-old apparently has a man called Justin Warren.
Here’s everything you need to know about the singer’s potential muse.
What does Justin Warren do?
Justin is an American promotions director for Universal Music in New Zealand, whom Lorde signed with back in 2009.
How hold is Justin?
Justin is reportedly 17 years Lorde’s senior at 41 years old.
When did Lorde and Justin start dating?
Rumours that Lorde and the music executive were more than friends started circulating in 2016 when the pair were spotted on a beach date in Auckland, New Zealand.
While Justin denied the rumours at the time, telling the New Zealand Herald that they were nothing but colleagues and “good friends”, it seems that their professional relationship eventually turned into something more, as they were spotted kissing and holding hands late last year.
Is Justin Lorde’s first boyfriend?
Nope. When she was 18, Lorde was linked with 24-year-old photographer, James Lowe. The pair reportedly split at the end of 2015.
In 2014, Lorde’s mother, Sonja Yelich, spoke about the pair’s age gap to Rolling Stone.
“I didn’t say, ‘Yeah sure, go date a 24-year-old.’ But his dad and I met James and we liked him,” Sonja told the magazine. “When Ella was much younger, her first boyfriend was older, four years or something like that.”

The musician has been notoriously private about her love life. However, upon the release of her Sophomore album Melodrama, Lorde did speak with The New York Times about how heartbreak affected her relationship with music.
“After your heart is broken, music enters you on a new level,” Lorde told the publication. “You suddenly find yourself crying when ‘Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart’ comes on.”
“It was my first major heartbreak,” she continued, adding that her hit single Green Light is “really about those moments kind of immediately after your life changes and about all the silly little things that you gravitate towards”.
