Olivia was born in New York City as Olivia Jane Cockburn. The actress eventually changed her last name to ‘Wilde’ after the Irish playwright.
“Oscar Wilde is someone who I respect for so many reasons—a revolutionary, a comedian and a profound thinker. I had all these reasons—but what I didn’t foresee is that people would think of it as a sexy adjective. So now it’s got a pornographic quality I never considered,” Olivia told The New York Observer in 2007.

Olivia Wilde is an actress, director, writer and producer. Having appeared as Remy “Thirteen” Hadley in House, Alex in The O.C., Charlotte Moore in BoJack Horseman, and more, the 37-year-old has quite the extensive acting catalogue.
But it was her directorial debut with the film Booksmart that really got people talking about her work behind the camera. Olivia is also currently in the post-production stage of another one of directorial projects, American psychological thriller Don’t Worry Darling, of which she is set to make an acting cameo as the character of Mary.
What’s more, her IMDB sites a directing credit related to an upcoming untitled Sony/Marvel project. Consider us curious.
For Olivia, filmmaking has always been the goal.
“I always wanted to make movies and be a part of the moviemaking process,” the director told Variety in 2020.
“I always assumed acting was the way in, because for many young women … they’re told, ‘You love movies — you should be a movie star.’ No one tells a little girl, ‘Why don’t you become a director?’ It’s just not a part of the conversation.
“But if a little boy says he loves movies, it’s like, ‘Maybe one day you’ll direct. Maybe you’ll be the next Steven Spielberg or Martin Scorsese.’”

Yes, so Olivia Wilde is reportedly dating musician Harry Styles, who is ten years her junior. The pair sparked dating rumours in January after they were spotted holding hands at a wedding. Thus, Holivia was born.
Olivia and Harry were originally linked due to their joint involvement in Don’t Worry Darling. Harry is playing the part of Jack, husband to Alice (played by Gen Z’s comfort person, Florence Pugh).
For the most part, both Olivia and Harry have refrained from commenting on their relationship, save from the director’s Instagram tribute to the Kiwi singer back in February after filming wrapped.

Who else has Olivia Wilde dated?
Prior to dating Harry, Olivia has been both married and engaged. When she was 19, the actress wed Italian filmmaker and musician Tao Ruspoli, who was a part of an aristocratic family. The pair were together for eight years before they officially divorced in 2011.
Later that year, the director entered a perhaps more high-profile relationship with American actor and comedian Jason Sudeikis, with whom she shares two children – Otis and Daisy. The couple got engaged in 2013 before a source revealed they had split in 2020.
The Saturday Night Live alum broke his silence about their breakup just last month in GQ.
“I’ll have a better understanding of why in a year,” the actor said. “And an even better one in two, and an even greater one in five, and it’ll go from being, you know, a book of my life to becoming a chapter to a paragraph to a line to a word to a doodle.”
