The One Direction boys are reflecting on their ten year anniversary… well, almost all of them. Four of the boy band members—Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson—have all shared some adorably wholesome moments and words about their time together to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the band being formed. And I am once again asking, where in the world is Zayn Malik?
That’s right, the singer and Gigi Hadid’s soon-to-be baby daddy, who left the band in 2015, is the only person to not comment on the incredible milestone that catapulted them into success and fame. But, uhh, anyway, here’s what the other members of One Direction wrote about their ten year anniversary.
Niall Horan
“When I met these four gents, there was no way I thought we would go on to do what we did,” wrote Horan. “So many unbelievable memories we shared together. We felt the adoration of millions from around the planet on a daily basis and it was mind blowing.”
Horran then went on to tag the four other boys—yes, including Zayn—before extending his congratulations to the other honorary members of One Direction, the crew and tour pals they met and worked with.
“It’s the 150 person crew of carpenters, lighting, riggers, sound, stage manager Mill that flew the globe with us,” he added. “It’s our band, our security boys, tour managers, our mangers, our label, Sarah cooking our food for us on the road. Today is a day to celebrate those guys also.”
“Emotion filled day today. The love from around the world ten years on is amazing. Thank you for your loyal support as always. Crazy what five normal guys can achieve.”
Liam Payne
“What a journey,” Liam wrote, sharing a text he sent his dad on the 23rd July in 2010 that simply read “I’m in a boy band.”
“I had no idea what we were in for when I sent this text to my Dad ten years ago at this exact time the band was formed. Thanks to everyone that’s supported us over the years and thanks to the boys for sharing this with me.”
Not gonna lie, this is a way more wholesome and less awkward response than that cursed TikTok he made pretending to have a Facetime conversation with a gif of his friend and bandmate Harry Styles.
Louis Tomlinson
“Too many incredible memories to mention but not a day goes by that I don’t think about how amazing it was,” wrote Louis. “Niall, Harry, Liam [and] Zayn, [I’m] so proud of you all individually.”
“And to the fans. The people who gave us all these amazing opportunities. You are incredible, your unmatched level of loyalty is something that makes me really really proud… Miss it every day!”
Harry Styles
Okay so, Harry’s lil essay thread about his time with the other boys and One Direction quite literally broke me.
“I’ve been struggling to put into words how grateful I am for everything that’s happened over the last ten years,” he said. “I’ve seen things and places that I’d only ever dreamt of when I was growing up.”
“I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and working with some of the most incredible people, and gained friendships that I know I will treasure for the rest of my life. None of this would be possible without the support you’ve given along the way.”
“And for that, I will be forever thankful. I just can’t believe it’s been ten years. Thank you to our crew, our team and everyone else who helped us along the way.”
“To all the fans, I love you and I thank you with all my heart. You did it all, and you changed everything.”
“And finally… to the boys, I love you so much, and I couldn’t be prouder of everything we achieved together. Here’s to ten.”
Zayn Malik
Honestly, we don’t even need a proper reunion right now, all we’re asking is for Zayn to tweet something, *anything*, about One Direction. Please Zayn, even just the number “ten” will do. I am begging you.
