In classic Marvel fashion, details of the upcoming film have been kept tightly under wraps (unless Tom “spoiler” Holland gets a hold of the script).

But, what we do know so far… is that Sydney has been cast alongside Dakota Johnson who will star in the titular role, according to Variety

The movie is currently in development and will be directed by S.J. Clarkson, who has previously worked on Jessica Jones and The Defenders

While the details are being kept under lock and key, the character first made an appearance in the comics in 1980 as a clairvoyant mutant. She appears as an elderly woman with a neuromuscular autoimmune disease which requires her to be connected to a life support system – which resembles a spiderweb.

After helping Peter Parker (currently portrayed in the Spider-Man films by Tom Holland) with her precognitive powers, she becomes a trusted ally of the superhero.

She is also acquainted with the multi-verse, which we know the MCU is exploring ATM.

As for what role Sydney will be playing in the film – that is also currently unknown. But we doubt it will have much of a resemblance to her time on Euphoria as Cassie Howard

The actress started her career at 12, and in 2009 she appeared in her first body of work, the shows Heroes and Criminal Minds.

However, Sydney grew up in Washington State, not Hollywood, so she had to convince her parents to take her to Los Angeles.

In 2019 she told Coveteur how she had to beg her parents to allow her to audition, and her business-savvy tactic took a leaf out of Emma Stone’s book.

“I grew up in a town where there wasn’t any sort of entertainment industry, so acting was a fairy tale,” she told the publication.

“They were holding auditions, so I begged my parents to let me audition by putting together a five-year business plan presentation.”

Of course, she’s most well known for Euphoria, which she stars in alongside fashion icon Zendaya, but that is by no means the only acting gig to the 24-year-old’s name.

In 2018, Sydney finally had her big break when she landed a role on the Netflix show Everything Sucks!.

She was also cast alongside Oscar winner Amy Adams in the HBO show Sharp Objects.

In recent years she has starred in the popular series The Handmaid’s Tale, the Oscar-winning movie Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, and the independent film Clementine.

Her most recent releases include HBO dramedy The White Lotus, Robot Chicken, The Voyeurs, and Night Teeth.
