It’s been two years since the cast, and fans of The Vampire Diaries said goodbye to mystic falls. While Nina Dobrev (Elena Gilbert) left the show a little earlier than the rest of the cast, she returned for the big finale. Now, she’s opening up about how she felt about that last episode.
While appearing on Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen asked Nina a fan question, “Are you satisfied with how The Vampire Diaries ended?”
“I think the show had a satisfying, awesome [ending]—for me it was great, because I got to go back and be a part of the finale, say goodbye and pay homage to the characters,” she said. “So, I was really happy with it, for sure.”
While on the show, she also discussed her friendship with ex, and co-star Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore). A fan asked her if it was weird that she remains friends with him, and his wife Nikki Reed.
“I don’t think that’s weird at all. I think that’s great. I think why can’t everyone be friends? I think that they have a beautiful baby and they are happy and so am I. What’s bad about that? I don’t see any problem with that.”
Amen sister.
