Last week, Pete Davidson tried to make a joke out of his called-off engagement to Ariana Grande during an SNL promo.
But… he failed miserably as Ariana clapped back with the shadiest tweet she’s ever written.
“For somebody who claims to hate relevancy u sure love clinging to it huh,” she wrote in a tweet, adding in another, “thank u, next.”
Burn.
After that scorcher, Pete reportedly axed the skit he had written about Ariana, and instead decided to take the high road.
He began by telling the audience that their relationship is “nobody’s business” and that “sometimes things don’t work out, and that’s okay.”
He added that Ariana is a “wonderful, strong person and I genuinely wish her all the happiness in the world.”
Before the episode aired, Ariana too made her standpoint known, by releasing a new track called, “thank u, next”. As you can tell, it was inspired by the tweet about Pete from earlier.
In the song, Ariana thanks her exes for all the lessons they taught her.
She wrote, “Thought I’d end up with Sean / But he wasn’t a match / Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh / Even almost got married / And for Pete I’m so thankful / Wish I could say thank you to Malcolm / Cause he was an angel.
“One taught me love / One taught me patience / And one taught me pain / Now I’m so amazing.”
