Fans think Justin Bieber isn’t over his ex Selena Gomez. Over the weekend, the “Yummy” singer starred in the music video to Drake and DJ Khaled’s “Popstar,” and literally lip-syncs the word “Selena.”
In the music video, Bieber, who had an on and off relationship with Gomez for years, wakes up after a house party and thinks about an ex, mouthing the words to Drake’s song: “Look, Ariana, Selena, my Visa/ It can take as many charges as it needs to, my girl.” Then, Bieber wakes up next to his actual wife Hailey Bieber and recalls a dream he had.
It seems just a bit too on the nose, no?
Shortly after the music video released and rumours started circulating that Bieber was still “obsessed” with his ex, a fake press release claimed that Selena was asked to star in the music video but declined. According to the tweet by a Selena Gomez fan account, 28-year-old businessman Shazir Mucklai allegedly invited Gomez to make an appearance on Drake’s latest project to thaw any alleged tension between her and the Biebz.
But, a source close to Gomez told the outlet that she was “never” approached about it. “Selena was never approached and had no plans to participate in the music video,” the source told People. Plus, if this random moment on her new cooking show tells us anything, Gomez might be flirting with a new boy.
